Short Cuts

I ran across a neat article from Make Use Of with links to lots of shortcuts on PC. I thought I would share them with you over the next few weeks.  If you want more than I have here or are on another operating system, check out: Wikipedia’s Table of Keyboard Shortcuts

Here are the basics for Windows 8.1 users

MS Wave Keyboard
This is the MS Wave Keyboard I use with my Desktop Computer. I love it!

Press Ctrl+C (or Ctrl+Insert) to Copy the selected item

Press Ctrl+X to Cut the selected item

Press Ctrl+V (or Shift+Insert) to Paste the selected item

Press Ctrl+Z to Undo an action

Press Alt+Tab to Switch between open apps (except desktop apps)

Press Alt+F4 to Close the active item, or exit the active app

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +L to Lock your PC or switch people

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +D to Press Display and hide the desktop

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +spacebar to Switch input language and keyboard layout

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +Ctrl+spacebar to Change to a previously selected input

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +Tab to Cycle through recently used apps (except desktop apps)

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +Ctrl+Tab to Cycle through recently used apps (except desktop apps)

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +Shift+Tab to Cycle through recently used apps (except desktop apps) in reverse order

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +Shift+period (.) to Snaps an app to the left

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +period (.) to Cycle through open apps

Press Esc to Stop or exit the current task

The following are keyboard shortcuts that you can use in Windows 10 (in addition to those above).

Press this key to To do this

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +A to Open Action center

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +S to Open search

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +C to Open Cortana in listening mode

Note: Cortana is only available in certain countries/regions,
and some Cortana features might not be available everywhere.
If Cortana isn’t available or is turned off, you can still use search.

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +Tab to Open Task view

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +Ctrl+D to Add a virtual desktop

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +Ctrl+Right arrow to Switch between virtual desktops you’ve created on the right

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo +Ctrl+Left arrow to Switch between virtual desktops you’ve created on the left

Press Windows logo key Win Key Logo  to Close the virtual desktop you’re using
